The Surf Project T-shirt Designs
My husband and I have been working for The Surf Project for the summer and into the fall. As the new year approaches, they asked for me to create a few designs for their new shirts for 2020. So here are a couple of t-shirt designs we will sport in the upcoming year!
As a starter, I was inspired to implement surfboard-related designs as much as possible. In the past, the shirts usually consisted of waves or a simple logo, but this year we wanted to take it to another level and bring some complex (yet simple) illustrations to the project. The project stands firm in the motto "Living Life to the Full". I wanted to make sure each design resonated with that belief.
This design was inspired by the colors of Ireland. The waters are surprisingly a chilly vibrant blue, when the clouds are gone, the sun fills the sky with a warm yellow ray, the beaches are long and complimented with sand dunes, and the land is a deep green that draws you in. Simplifying this imagery into a t-shirt design was quite difficult!
Every surfer has to rock a shirt with a surfboard fin at some point in their lives. I wasn't content with a simple fin design but wanted to give it a wavy inlay. The Japanese style wave inlay was a vector image used by freevector.com.
The Surf Project is all about "Living Life to the Full"; a motto they live by. I combined the motto, as well as a diverse selection of surfboards that symbolize the diversity of the programme. Every surfboard plays a different role and rides differently; some are more advanced than others. This resembles the Projects openness to surfers of ALL backgrounds. Whether it's your first time surfing or you are a pro shredder, this programme welcomes you to live life to the full!
This shirt has a more personal design; the Land Rover Defender, two dogs, and causeway coast are all special to this organization and for those who have taken part in our events are aware of these monuments! Finn and Darcy (the two dogs) are always involved in our events and can be found riding the Defender, or as the kids call "the monster truck". The location of the project rests on the beautiful causeway coast of Northern Ireland. This shirt will be used for more personal camps and maybe staff members.
T-shirt mockups were made possible by Fuji Grafiks.
